Be the change you want to make

Start with an idea and a small step

Hola!NewLife accomplishes two objectives: the first one is a personal goal of self-actualization to give and support Latinas and Latinos who, like me, have the ambition and drive but lack resources to unlock their potential. The second one to take more than a stand on global social justice and racial wealth equity with actions more than words and proactively creating a virtuous cycle of philanthropy in hopes of making our lives and world better.

The story of Hola!NewLife emerged a long time ago with my strong belief in the positive impact that education has in our lives; the name Cynthia Salinas's idea.

Cynthia was my MBA classmate at SJSU. When we sat in our second MBA class next to each other, we learned that we both worked for SJSU. We tried to sync our class schedules since then and worked on several projects, one of which was participating in the Silicon Valley Innovation Competition. Cynthia shared her idea about Hola!NewLife with me and we submitted an entry. The initial idea was that Hola!NewLife.com would be an online platform aimed at increasing women’s confidence, career ambitions, and money awareness.

Our submission did not get traction but the seed was planted. As we progressed through the MBA, our schedules were packed with our full time work, MBA classes in the evenings, social and personal commitments. Hola!NewLife went to the back burner and as I continued on my front-end goals providing support and encouragement to rising starts, I started to fit the name with my idea of a virtuous cycle of philanthropy. After we completed our MBA, Cynthia transitioned to another role and decided Hola!NewLife was defunct, so I asked her permission to use the name.

Now it is time to start making a small, yet big change in the world. I am excited to see what are your ideas and the small steps you will take to contribute to this virtuous cycle and forming partnerships to make our lives better.

Warmly,

Anie, Founder
